Rename folders and files quickly and easily

Rename Expert allows you to rename folders and files quickly and easily. The program offers a variety of innovative functions to create consistent and, above all, meaningful names. With a few simple clicks, you can number folders and files, shorten file names that are too long, rename file extensions and much more. Rename Expert supports metadata such as EXIF, ID3 and IPTC. This allows you, for example, to automatically rename photos according to the date they were taken or to completely reorganize files (automatically move or copy them to a new folder structure).

All functions can be combined as required and saved as a template for reuse. Many tasks can already be completed using the templates supplied. Despite its wide range of functions, the program is very easy to use. With Rename Expert, meaningless file names are a thing of the past!

Rename folders including subfolders and files at the same time
Allows batch renaming of any number of files and folders in one go (incl. network support).

Rename photos and images using metadata
File names can be automatically generated from metadata contained in photos (EXIF, IPTC, ...), for example. In this way, file names of photos can be composed of e.g. location, year, month ...

Sort and filter files
The extensive filter and sorting functions can be applied to many properties (e.g. file extension, image dimensions, creation date) and allow files and/or folders to be included or excluded.

Numbering folders and files (e.g. images)
Files and folders can be numbered consecutively or in random order. Existing numbering can simply be overwritten or changed.

Using CSV files for naming
CSV files - exported from Microsoft Excel, for example - can be used flexibly to name files and folders. The old and new names can also be composed of several columns.

Generate file names automatically from file content
Rename Expert makes it possible to generate file names automatically from the file content of documents (e.g. XML, HTML or log files). A line can be defined via the line number or a range via two markers.

Rename and move multiple files in one step
In addition to renaming, files can be moved to folders that are created and named based on metadata (e.g. date photo taken, date created, etc.).

Rename file extensions
File extensions can be changed as desired with Rename Expert (e.g. rename MP3 to mp3), they can be added or removed and their case can be customized.

Many special functions
Rename Expert offers a variety of special functions, such as inserting the checksum (MD5, SHA, CRC32) of the file content into the file name, encrypting folder and file names or the option of inserting random characters into the file name or naming files completely randomly.

Shorten file names that are too long / edit file paths that are too long
With Rename Expert, you can also rename folders or files that exceed a path length of 260 characters and can therefore no longer be edited with Windows Explorer.

Real-time preview of the new file names
All changes to the folder and file names are displayed in real time and also checked for errors before renaming to avoid conflicts (e.g. duplicate names).

Save renaming settings as a profile
Action lists allow you to combine any renaming actions (e.g. replace text, move part of the name, change the spelling). Together with other settings, these can be saved as a profile for repeated use.
